Two pieces of news to start with!
First of all, the debut of this site. Hugh Panaro has - and with good reason - many loyal fans. And it's time he had a fan club of his own. So, after some very amusing conversations on a "Phantom of the Opera" message board, this site...and a devoted little group called the Panarophiles was born!
So, welcome and enjoy your visit. The goal is to make this a very interactive place for his fans to "gather" on-line. If you'd like to contribute pictures or other materials to the site, please feel free to e-mail me!
Second, Hugh Panaro will be leaving his current role as the lead in "The Phantom of the Opera." He's had an amazing run of over two years in this wonderful musical and I really cannot imagine a better Phantom. He will certainly be missed! News of his future projects will be posted here once it's official. But his final show as the Phantom will be at the beginning of October and is certain to be a moving experience.
Thanks for visiting this site and come back often as it evolves!

Less than a month to go now before Hugh's final performance as the Phantom!
So sorry about the lack of updates to the site...there was a little accident that resulted in the destruction of my laptop computer. Thankfully, things are up and running on a new one and more updates are coming soon.
Panarophiles.net will be passing 5,000 visits shortly and there are over thirty members of Hugh's unofficial fan club now! I'm sure he won't mind if I say thank you so much on his behalf.

A few small updates to the sight. There's a charming new photo of Hugh with his mask on the Phantom page. Hugh was kind enough to let us see the mask when we spoke to him after the matinee yesterday.
The Panarophile wrist bands mentioned further down this page are sold out, but more will be ordered and a link will be added for them.
There's a few new pictures in the Fan Photos section, too.

I quite literally just got off the bus from NYC. I saw Hugh before the 9/12 show and he asked me to pass along a message. He said that there is a good chance he will not be doing the 8 p.m. show on September 24. There is a Lestat press event scheduled for him that day and it may prevent him from doing the evening show.
I have to add that the Phantom performance I just saw was incredible beyond description. I've said it each time, but Hugh is better with each show...and this performance was flawless, powerful, and amazingly beautiful.
September 15, 2005

Just two weeks to go before Hugh leaves "The Phantom of the Opera" and the dates for "Lestat" on Broadway have been announced. Please see the "Lestat" page for details as they become available.
September 23, 2005
Due a technical issue...the entire Hughphoria message board was deleted from the servers. All threads, post counts, and user accounts simply vanished. I will have the board back up and running at once. Please...if you were a member...re-register. I apologize for this...I am not sure what happened, but it was a problem with the servers.
September 26, 2005
Ticket and theatre information for Lestat has been released and the Lestat page here has been updated with that information.
Lest than a week to go before Hugh's final show in The Phantom of the Opera. The wonderful members of this site are giving him a very special going-away present and will miss his brilliant portrayal of the title character.
September 30, 2005
A special thank-you note from Hugh!
Also, the stress and chaos of his final few days with The Phantom of the Opera is taking its toll on Hugh. When a friend and I spoke with him last night, he admitted he's getting sick. Please...send some thoughts, good wishes, and prayers his way.
September 31, 2005

Well, we're all dying to hear Hugh singing something...anything...from Lestat. Until the show opens and the cast album is released, here's a little preview to torture us and leave us wanting more. No, it's not Hugh. It's two very, very short clips of Sir Elton John singing songs from the show. "Sail Me Away" will, however, be one of Hugh's numbers.
And, don't forget, tickets for the show on Broadway will be on sale to the general public soon.
Hugh (and his beloved dog, Soot) are mentioned in this lovely article on his Phantom co-star, Anne Ronulfsson.
November 14, 2005
Panarophiles.net is now listed at Starpages.net! It's the only site for Hugh there now. If you've enjoyed your visit, please, stop by and vote!
And, don't forget...tickets for Lestat are now on sale - for San Francisco and for Broadway!

November 21, 2005
As of this evening, we're closing in on our first 25,000 visits. It seems like only a few days ago when we'd broken our first 1,000!.
The Gallery will be expanding a bit soon...hopefully in time for the San Francisco premiere of Lestat. If you have ANY photos to share, please e-mail me. Many thanks and, if off-line obligations prevent me from updating much this week, a very Happy Thanksgiving to all.
November 26, 2005
I had a chance to spend time with some friends in NYC yesterday. Our rendezvous spot was in front of the Palace. The new signs for Lestat look wonderful.
I'll post a picture or two soon. In the meantime, there's a nice article from a 2002 issue of The Sondheim Review about Hugh and Sweeney Todd. He was Anthony Hope in the Kennedy Center's production of it that year.
And Hugh is featured very prominently in "Help Is On The Way," a lovely song on this year's Carols For A Cure album from Broadway Cares.
He's also on last year's album, available from the same site. Don't miss his cute "A Little Ditty."
November 29, 2005
Just in time for the holidays, the Panarophile's Amazon.com Associate Shop is now open with links to Hugh's available recordings. A percentage of the price will help to keep this site up and expanding.

Well, here's the first look at the program for Lestat. The show opens in San Francisco in just over a week now. This is a pdf file of the 16-age color brochure for the show.
There's also a clip of another song (a demo sung by Elton John) at the official site for the show. And there's some nice wallpapers and AIM buddy icons available there for download.

It's just just after ten on the East Coast...which means that the opening night of the San Francisco pre-Broadway premier of Lestat is just a bit over twenty-four hours away. Lots of love and best wishes go out to Hugh and everyone involved in this exciting new project!
If you're in the San Francisco area and seeing the show or find some press coverage of it, please...feel free to share your thoughts, reviews, articles!
New banners are being added to the site. Updated pages with banners include The Phantom of the Opera, Recordings, Articles, Gallery, Career Highlights, the biography page, Lestat, the main page, Links, and this one.

The first reviews and media coverage of Lestat are slowly coming in now. I'll be adding material as I get it. If someone has an extra copy of the show's Playbill or can at least scan Hugh's headshot and bio from it, I'd be eternally thankful to you! If you've seen the show and want to share your thoughts on Hugh, please stop by the message board.
In the meantime, Hugh is mentioned in the San Francisco Chronicle's article on the show, "Taking the first bite."

Some wonderful, wonderful news! Roz, creator of Hugh Panaro On-line, had a chance to talk to Hugh in San Francisco after seeing him in Lestat. Her account of her talk with him and some great pictures with him are included here:
But the best part...because Hugh told a group of us a little bit about this back in August...he's finally going to record a solo album! Now that is truly something to look forward to!
